"To Everything There is a Season"

The Lutheran A Cappella Choir's Spring Concert, To Everything There is a Season, will be presented on Friday, April 26th at 7:30PM at Hales Corners Lutheran Church, and on Sunday, April 28th at 3:00PM at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. The concert will feature the Milwaukee-area premiere of Bob Chilcott's Requiem, a beautiful recent work for choir, soloists and instrumental ensemble.  We are pleased to feature Sarah Gorke, soprano, and Lee Henning, tenor, as soloists.

There is an interesting interview here with composer Bob Chilcott about his Requiem at the time of its world premiere.

The second half of the concert will feature varied works by composers like Benjamin Britten, John Rutter, Morten Lauridsen, Henry Purcell and Aaron Copland. Previews of a few of the works can be heard by clicking on a selection under the heading "Spring 2013 Samples".

Tickets are $15.00, and $12.00 for Seniors and Students. They can be ordered from this website and also purchased at the door.  Come and enjoy an afternoon or evening of glorious choral music by one of the area's oldest and finest community choirs.

LAC Christmas Concert “Angels and Shepherds Rejoice”

The Lutheran A Cappella Choir presented their annual Christmas Concerts on Friday, December 7th at 7:30PM and Sunday, December 9th at 3:00PM.  Friday night’s concert was held at the new home of Grace Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls.  Sunday afternoon’s concert was at our home church, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa. The featured work was John Rutter’s thrilling “Gloria” accompanied by brass, percussion and organ. The choir also sang exciting arrangements of traditional Christmas hymns, carols, and spirituals, as well as selections from the Renaissance and Baroque eras.

LAC Appoints New Accompanist

LAC is happy to announce that Mark Davidson has been appointed as the choir's new accompanist. Mark brings a wealth of experience to the position, most recently as the accompanist for the Bach Chamber Choir from 2009-2012. He is currently the Assistant Minister of Music at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha.  Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, MN in 2001, and has also served as organist for other Lutheran parishes in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota for the past 20 years.

He is a member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM), and serves as an accountant for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) headquarters here in Milwaukee.  As much as we are sad to lose Kathy May as our treasured accompanist for the past 25 years, we are looking forward to working with Mark as we begin our 76th year of singing in service to our Lord.

Welcome, Mark!
